In 1993, the 200th anniversary of Marie Antoinette's death, a play called Je m'appelais Marie Antoinette was staged in Paris.

Having established the details of Marie Antoinette's life, it asked the audience to choose her fate - freedom, lifetime imprisonment, banishment or death. Most chose banishment, but some still sent her back to the guillotine.
